New Engine for Opel Models

The new 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel CDTI Ecotec, that fully complies with the Euro-6 will appear soon on the cars Opel. It was developed together with team of engineers from Germany, Italy and the U.S., therefore this new creation can be named as the most complex in its nature.

The new power plant will replace the existing 1.7-liter turbodiesel and the 2-liter engine working on heavy fuel. According to Opel, the engine has an aluminum cylinder block and innovative power management, low-noise and vibration. The 1.6-liter turbo-diesel will be available in several versions for power output, including a 136-hp. Compared with the same impact on the 2-liter turbodiesel, the new motor will be 10% more economic, and will provide torque of 320 Nm.

Production of engine 1.6 CDTI Ecotec will start next spring at the plant in the Hungarian city of Szentgotthard. It has produced a new gasoline turbo SIDI Ecotec of the same displacement. Total for year 2016 Opel plans to launch 23 new car models and 13 new powertrains. We all think that these plans will bring Opel the previous success and prestige.
