The European division of General Motors has changed its name

General Motors has renamed its European division in Opel Group. The headquarters of the group will be located in Rüsselsheim, Germany, while the office of General Motors Europe was in Zurich, Switzerland.

As explained in the General Motors, Opel Group will be responsible for financial transactions in Europe with the participation of all the brands of the concern. In addition, it is planned that the new structure in the future be able to produce some models Buick brand for the United States, cars Holden in Australia and New Zealand.

The fact that GM is going to produce in Germany “Buicks” for the American market was first reported in March 2014. Investments in start-up of production should reach 245 million euro. Now Rüsselsheim produced sedans Opel Insignia, which is built on the same platform as the four-door Buick Regal. Which model will appear on the assembly line of the plant, the Group undertook to report before the end of the year. At the moment, apart from these brands, the structure of General Motors brands includes Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC (USA), Vauxhall (UK), as well as Chinese Wuling and FAW. By the end of 2016 General Motors has to invest in the development of the “Opel” four billion euro. These tools will direct the expansion of the model range and the development of new power plants.
