Opel showed the car that will replace the Daewoo Matiz

Opel has officially unveiled its smallest model hatchback Karl.
German Automaker revealed the appearance and characteristics of the new hatchback Opel, model Karl, named in honor of Charles Opel, son of the founder of the brand. According to the publication, the new, built on the platform of the new global concern General Motors, the European market will replace the Chevrolet Spark, in some markets, better known as the Daewoo Matiz.
In this case, Opel Karl, whose debut is scheduled for the spring motor show in Geneva, only 40 mm longer Spark (overall length of 3680 millimeters) and, therefore, as much as 340 mm shorter than the Corsa. But, despite its modest size, five-door hatchback is designed for four adult passengers and the driver.

Initially, the model will be available with a single engine – a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine 75 hp, and as the gearbox will be offered only a 5-speed manual. Although over time the 900-pound machine will surely get other power plants, including diesel engines.

It is expected that Opel Karl will be the most affordable compact from those presented in the European market. But with a base price of 10 thousand euros German child should attract customers not only a pleasant price tag, but also a rich set of equipment available in the basic version.
