Hungarian Opel plant in Szentgotthard started to produce a new line of engines Flex, which consists of compact turbine units with gasoline direct injection. New items will appear on the market by the end of this year.

In Hungary first on the conveyor went 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo Ecotec power of 115-hp. As explained by Vice President Opel Joachim Koschnick, the main advantages of the new engine – a great economical and environmentally friendly, along with a good balance and a low noise level. But we already know that the first to receive new product mini crossover Adam Rocks, and near the end of this year – a new generation Corsa.

Thus on “Corsa” also impose less powerful 90-strong version of this engine. All in all, the family will be presented Flex motors of two volumes of 1.0 and 1.4 liters. The total volume of production is 100 thousand units in 2014 and more than 250 thousand in 2015. Note that now in Szentgotthard also gather representatives of families of older motors Opel: 1.6-liter petrol and diesel units. Flex will gradually replace them on a conveyor and in the market. In total, by 2018 Opel plans to expand the range of engines for 17 new variants.
