The new generation Opel Insignia will be inspired by the Opel Monza Concept presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013. For the United States auto market Opel Insignia will be rebadged as the next Buick Regal sedan. The new model with premium and styling features of Opel Monza is expected in 2017. Karl-Thomas Neumann, Opel Chief Executive Officer said that you will see the Monza when you will see the next Insignia. That means, that Buick Regal will also resemble the Monza Concept.

We remind that Opel presented Monza in 2013 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, revealing the future direction of Opel style. The four-seat coupe received a flowing shape, fastback silhouette and outstanding rear-wheel arches. The most staggering detail of Monza design is a big gull wing-door. Other remarkable details are boomerang-like air intakes which supplement front chrome-trimmed radiator grill. The concept received spacious saloon, wide trunk. Inside there is a large dashboard with super advanced screen, voice control and buttons on the steering wheel.

The modular design allows to use a wide range of different engines. The Concept presented in Frankfurt has an electric motor drive with CNG (compressed natural gas) system, that leads to the reduction of CO2 emission.

Opel Insignia can appear in Europe one year earlier then Buick Regal. It is expected in 2016.
